You don't need your child in the room for this to work.

I am a proudly SPACE-trained clinician, certified in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions — a parent-based treatment developed by Dr. Eli Lebowitz, director of the Program for Anxiety Disorders at the Yale Child Study Center, to reduce anxiety and OCD in children and teens by working directly with caregivers.

Rather than treating your child, SPACE works with you on the specific accommodations families make around a kid's anxiety: answering for them, letting them skip things, offering constant reassurance. Those accommodations come from a good place; they're also often what keeps the anxiety in place. SPACE is a structured, step-by-step process for reducing them without pulling support out from under your kid.

This isn't general parenting advice. It's a manualized, evidence-based protocol with weekly structure and measurable steps.

This may be a fit if you're:

  • A parent of a child who won't engage in individual therapy

  • A parent of a younger child, where parent-only work tends to be more effective anyway

  • Already deep in an accommodation loop — doing tasks for your child, offering constant reassurance, or letting avoidance become the default

  • Looking for concrete tools alongside your child's existing individual therapy

How It Works

  • Free 20-minute consultation

We talk through what's happening at home and whether SPACE is the right starting point.

  • Intake assessment

A longer first session to map current accommodations and family patterns around the anxiety.

  • Weekly parent sessions

Structured work, typically without the child present, reducing specific accommodations one at a time.

  • Check-ins and adjustment

As anxiety comes down, we review what's working and adjust the plan.
